A daughter lost her father. The Teina Pora case is a tragic but necessary story deserving of our combined attention as a society so that we can all learn from its important lessons and move on. Featuring an exhilarating line up of verses from ten notable artists from within the NZ Hip Hop community enlisted by South Auckland Hip Hop pioneer Ermehn, the powerful four minute Anonymouz produced track and accompanying video directed by internationally award winning director Tuki Laumea serves as their collective artistic response to the case from various viewpoints and angles. Although at times stinging in some of its emotive criticisms of various aspects of the case, it is fundamentally NOT a judgement of character, but moreso a passionate response to facts. Our aim is that this work serves as a catalyst for necessary change amongst the various worlds that have intersected in this case. We hope that our current and future 17 year olds make more positive and better decisions for themselves away from the pressures of gang influences. We pray that our children have their fathers present in their lives growing up. We trust that those in positions of governance and power are held to account as evenly and fairly as the very communities that they have sworn to serve under the principal of law that governs us all equally, and that such power is not abused under any circumstances."
