- description: Police have issued CCTV footage after a good Samaritan was stabbed in Didsbury after intervening to stop a fight. Two men, aged 33 and 36, have been arrested and questioned in connection with the incident and police are now appealing to the public to help them identify a third man and a woman from CCTV. The incident happened at around 11.05pm on Sunday 17 March 2013, when the victim, Sam, was outside O'Neill's Bar on Wilmslow Road. Sam, aged 25 and from Stockport, had been drinking inside the bar and had stepped outside with a friend, when he saw two men fighting. One of the men involved in the fight fell to the floor and was then seen to be kicked in his face and body by the other man. Sam became concerned for the man on the floor and intervened to separate the two. As he did, he felt a sharp blow to the right of his lower back and realised he had been stabbed. The two men involved in the fight both left the scene together with the knifeman. It is believed they got into separate taxis. Sam, who works as a primary school teacher in the Manchester area, was taken to hospital for treatment to a stab injury to his kidney area. He was kept in overnight for observations and released days later. Detective Constable Chris Clarke from West Didsbury police station said: "This was a violent attack on a good Samaritan who was merely concerned for another man and tried to stop him from being assaulted. "We believe the two men who were fighting had been drinking in O'Neill's bar prior to this incident and that the man responsible for the stabbing was an associate of these two men. "I am asking for the public's help to identify the man on the footage who can be seen wearing a cream jacket, light blue jumper and sunglasses on the top of his head. He is white and had a fully shaved head at the time. "We are also looking to identify the blonde woman who was wearing a red coloured knee length dress, as it appears she knows the man in the cream jacket. It is believed the two are local and were known by sight by many of the customers that were inside O'Neills on the night of the attack. "I would encourage anyone with any information at all, no matter how small you think it may be, to get in touch with us as your information could be vital to our investigation." Police enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call police in West Didsbury on 0161 856 6180. Information can also be passed on to police anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
