  • description: NAAN-E/EEGA... basically decribes a fly...a common house fly to say... Hearing this we will obviously be curious to know more about the film. The trailers invoked more of it...though one could easily predict what the movie would say.,a revenge story where a fly tries to beat a villain. Its nothing new for us, as many films have seen animals and reptiles taking revenge , reincarnated beings avenging their deaths etc..to name a few, directors like Ramanarayanan, Vittalachaarya etc have trodden this path many a times! So what's new in NAAN-E/EEGA? Dir.Rajamouli conceived this story from a one-liner his father mentioned two decades ago! ok, that's easy.. but such a subject needs to be handled very carefully! Especially with a fairly new and young cast, 20-30 crores of investment..one needs to be very careful. The screenplay has to be tight, and riveting! Having already seen such kind of movies where animals take revenge on their enemies, NAAN-E/EEGA had a USP of a fly doing it..! flies are not really considered threatening. DAVID vs GOLIATH battles are always welcomed by the audiences if narrated well. A story where an UNDERDOG rises from the ashes to defeat a TOPDOG is always nice to view. NAAN-E/EEGA is Such a kind of film. Nani falls in love with Samantha and just when things seem to be going right , he is killed by sudeep who also fancies samantha and aids her educational project only because of his love interests. NAAN-E/EEGA is Nani avenging his death by reincarnating as a fly and killing sudeep with the help of samantha. It involves great planning and choreography of scenes, as the fly is a graphical object that is only added later in the VFX stages. The actors have to imagine the existence of it and perform. The screenplay is quite interesting and you are always looking forward to something. Though i felt some more "science" could have been used in the scenes dealing with the fly, the director does manage to come out victorious in the end.The fly has been impressively designed and animated , though its not of very high quality. You can easily ignore the imperfections and the standards of the VFX as the movie and the screenplay draws you into the story making you forget the logic and technicalities! The performances have to be appreciated, sudeep does a very good job, a film that would definitely enhance his CV.He was the right man , his body language, screen presence and voice fit in perfectly! Nani would have definitely stolen a few hearts with his performance which was just a cameo of around 15 minutes. I must say, there have been very few cameos which have made such an impact considering the consequences of it in a film such as this, which can be compared to Karthik's cameo in Mouna ragam, Pia's cameo in Ko...!Nani was full of life, and can certainly have a good run as a lead actor in future! Samantha was beautiful and calm, did her job perfectly! The dialogues were neat and powerful written by Janardhan Maharshi and Crazy Mohan in Telugu and Tamil respectively. Music by M. M. Keeravani was perfect, and the songs were fresh! BGM was as needed and not jarring.Cinematography by K. K. Senthil Kumar was impressive and smart. The only romantic song was well shot and choreographed though the situation of it was nothing new.Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao was as required. With a running time of 133 minutes, NAAN-E/EEGA proves to be a master stroke by Rajamouli , where he has opened a new path for other film makers to follow. What hit me the most was that if Rajamouli could make a film as this with limited VFX access, imagine what Shanker could do with unlimited access to graphics and VFX supply!? point to ponder about. High time Movies in South India started using graphics constructively for story telling rather than for just a few scenes or song picturization! overall, NAAN-E/EEGA has excelled in interesting storytelling. With a theater occupancy of around 80% even on weekdays, its a sure winner.Rajamouli has succeeded in yet another Genre, yet another venture! Well worth a Watch! No disappointments!!! :)
