The visibly distraught performer was quickly swamped by global press, paparazzi and a mob of hysterical fans in scenes reminiscent of Beatle Mania. Airport security and Sydney Mardi Gras support staff struggled to usher her safely through the terminal to her waiting limousine. Already hours behind her official schedule, Ms Macintosh had allegedly been detained by Customs and Quarantine personnel for onboard erratic behaviour and diva demands. According to an unnamed source, the drag icon was first subjected to a brief pat down but demanded the search be escalated to a full cavity search. Miss Macintosh returns to Sydney after a three year hiatus to appear exclusively at Sydney Mardi Gras.
