- description: Debates, big birds, election stress... How does an ordinary American filter out the rhetoric and make the right choice? Greetings. I'm Darla Wednesday for AND Magazine. After stellar debate performances and dismal debate blunders from both of the key parties, the upcoming election has become much more difficult to decipher. The Republicans and Democrats both have qualified teams, but how does a regular Darla make the right choice? Heaven knows it's always a mistake to "follow the crowd" and that includes blindly following a political party. So, your best bet when voting on anything, is to vote on the person or the issue... not on the popular trend of your peer group. Voting booths are private and secret, so it's easy to be strong with your beliefs, and individual in your passion. On the other hand, they's all swimmingly, handsome devils and dashing, debonair dressers, so in the presentation arena, they're all winners! The only losers here will be those who don't vote this November. I've always thought that every animal is unique and wonderful in their own way. Well, a team of amazingly dedicated, international researchers found DNA evidence that the Addis Ababa lion in Ethiopia, is not only special because of it's stunning one-of-a-kind mane, but it's also genetically unique. This means that it is immediately at risk of extinction. The research team, principally British and German, is urging immediate conservation action to preserve this vulnerable lion population. The movie, Atlas Shrugged, Part 2, debuted last weekend during a time when author Ayn Rand's epic words from 1957 couldn't be more alarming. The novelist wrote of big government and a world on the brink of collapse.... and in today's presidential race, those concepts seems to be a reality. Critics blasted the book with negative reviews, but it has been a best-seller, topping charts since it's debut. As The New York Times writer, Harriet Rubin puts it, "Both conservatives and liberals were unstinting in disparaging the book; the right saw promotion of godlessness, and the left saw a message of greed is good. Rand is said to have cried every day as the reviews came out." Whatever your take, it's relevance to today's political climate can't be ignored. And in sad news, the romantic swashbuckler Errol Flynn passed away today. Born in Tasmania, Errol published novels, was largely responsible for developing tourism in Jamaica, and (of course) was one of this era's most charismatic leading men the big screen has ever known. We will miss you Mr. Flynn. And that's your Darla Wednesday report from me, Darla Wednesday. Tune in next time for more Darla... And remember, if all the world's a stage, where are you sitting?
