Initially, before seeing Lawler carted on a stretcher, many backstage thought a fight had escalated in the arena. Michael Cole updated the TV audience throughout the night that Lawler had been administered CPR backstage, was being taken to the hospital by ambulance, was being administered oxygen and was breathing on his own, as well as responding to light. Unfortunately, this was not relayed to those in attendance in Montreal. We were told by ring announcer Justin Roberts that the planned Pat Patterson Appreciation night was to be postponed to another date because of Lawler's condition, which was not specified. Though the 62-year-old Lawler occasionally wrestles, he mainly works on WWE broadcasts as a commentator. While broadcasting "WWE Monday Night Raw" in Montreal, longtime wrestler (and wrestling commentator) Jerry "The King" Lawler collapsed at ringside and had to be transported to the hospital. But the wrestling organization said late Monday that his condition had stabilized, that he was breathing on his own and that his heart was beating on its own. Medical personnel performed CPR on him at the arena, and after being whisked away to a local hospital, WWE announcer Michael Cole told fans on TV that Lawler is "more responsive" and that "he's reacting to lights in his eyes." Cole said Lawler is waiting for a CAT scan, and "in typical Jerry Lawler fashion, he's fighting hard." Lawler, 62, had worked a match earlier in the evening, and he was helping broadcast the tag-team match between Kane and Daniel Bryan vs. The Primetime Players when he collapsed at the announcer's table. According to the WWE, he was transported backstage where he received CPR from medical personnel.
