A member of his in-game Free Company (Final Fantasy XIV's version of a guild) posted to Reddit that they were preparing for the final logout and giving him the permanent rank of Immortal Siren in-game as a farewell. Link to Reddit post: http://redd.it/2pxo8k What followed can only be described as an unbelievable, incredible outpouring of support from the FFXIV community (and beyond!) at large. Here we've captured one such moment of many on the beach outside of the Free Company's house. In Final Fantasy XIV, an event known as "The Rising" commemorates the heroic departed who lost their lives in the Calamity, providing a time for Eorzeans to reflect on their losses. Though it is only active in-game for a limited duration and has ended for 2014, his fellow players on Gilgamesh were hardly about to let that stop them. Players who never met Codex in Eorzea or in person gathered together to spell his name on the sands and give him an appropriate send off. Farewell, Codex Vahlda.
