- description: The O’Callaghans were left speechless when they won Cork’s RedFM’s massive Christmas Covered competition after a staged live on-air interview with two finalists. Unknown to father of three Emmett O’Callaghan, from Farranlea Park in Bishopstown, the winners he lost to were a fake couple with a made-up sob story. Emmett left the studio empty-handed, only to arrive home later to find Christmas had come early. The festive surprise included a fully decorated home, a 40-inch TV, a vast collection of DVDs, weekend breaks, dozens of food and drinks hampers, gym membership, and countless vouchers for hotels, shops, and businesses all over Cork, likely to keep the family going for a year. Stunned and shocked, and while being hugged by his wife, Zara, and their three kids, Hughie, 11, Siobhán, 7, and Emmett Óg, 5, Emmett said it brings to a fantastic end what has been a very tough year for them.
