UpRoxx.com’s Andy Isaac spotted footage of a nasty collision from the 2015 New Balance Nationals Indoor track meet involving multiple runners and a member of the track crew. The incident occurred at the end of the boys' 400-meter dash final, when a woman attempting to raise the finish-line tape hazarded into the path of the runners. What followed, according to an announcer calling the race, was the worker getting “wham-sauced” by winner Taylor McLaughlin, who was later disqualified for a lane violation. “Oh my gosh, he just wham-sauced the meet crew!” the announcer yelled. “It doesn’t matter, he’s the national champion. Get this shot of him laying on the ground exhausted. Everybody is laying on the ground. This is outrageous, ladies and gentlemen.” While I’m sure McLaughlin was very tired, part of the reason he was on the ground might have been the fact he had just run full-bore into another person. When you’re at the bottom of a derailed human stampede, you tend to stay put for a minute. Additionally, the announcer’s phrasing of the incident couldn’t have come more naturally. The words “wham-sauced” leapt spring-loaded from his mind, as if he’d been waiting for just this opportunity. Isaac uploaded a Vine showing another angle of the incident:
