According to his manager, film director Chito Rono, the 'It's Showtime' host was invited by a female friend to visit her in her condominium unit. For a still unknown reason, a group of men allegedly blindfolded Vhong and beat him up when he got inside the condominium. They also tried to extort money from the latter. Due to his condition, Vhong will temporarily not be seen on "It's Showtime," which airs weekdays and Saturdays, and on his other television projects, as he continues to recover.
