  • description: Deleted from http://instagram.com/mr_44. Originally posted on the August 23 and deleted late Sept 17 or early Sept 18. Before being deleted, the video had 287 likes and 19 positive comments. The original post is titled "baptized in the name of LGI" In response to some of the attention and reaction this has received: It's nice that Utah's statement says this was done without malice. It certainly appears that way. It also says it was done without disrespect. I'm not sure I agree with that. Swapping out a football expression in the video's title in place of "In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost," to me, is disrespectful. Mimicking a religious ordnance, filming it, and getting several hundred likes for it on Instragram back in August, to me, is disrespectful. No one is going to hold a protest or anything over it, but there are simple ways to fulfill a dare to see to see if someone will go under the water of an ice bath without making it look like, and then publicly calling it a baptism. Especially in light of previous recorded instances such as a student hold a "Y U have special underwear" sign and fans tailgating with mock sacrament Jell-O shots, it's disappointing to see religion is something football players themselves also feel free joke about. I am not upset. I would not say I'm offended. I think the video that was posted was in poor taste. I would have liked to see some regret, rather than just explanation, in the school's official statement.
