- description: FIREMAN, school principal and a couple of councillors will be strutting their stuff at a Dancing With The Stars hockey fundraiser at Ilminster school gymnasium next month. After a successful inaugural event, this year promises to be bigger and better, says organiser Matt Skuse. "We will run a live feed to interview each couple from the drama room before they take the floor. "This will be projected out to the crowd before they make an entrance." Up to 1000 tickets are expected to be sold for the fundraiser, which will take place on July 21. Ten acts have been paired up and there will be four group acts performing throughout the event. Councillors Manu Caddie and Rehette Stoltz will let their feet do the talking, while Les Mills instructor Trudz Houkamau should make the smooth transition from her day job. Firefighter Ed Hindmarsh and policeman Dougal Watts are used to working under pressure, and Dale Parou, Tony Scragg and Matt Skuse fly the flag for Poverty Bay hockey. School principal Paul Sadler and Sport Gisborne chief executive Brent Sheldrake complete the all-star line-up. Each of the dancers are paired with a hometown dance instructor. For Mr Skuse, it's salsa supremo Sheryl May. "She runs a dance class called Gisborne Salsa and they train Wednesday nights at St Andrew's church hall," he said. "This girl can move, so the pressure is on me." Ilminster's gym has been provided free of charge and a raised dancing stage will be used to put the dancers in the spotlight. Couples are encouraged to brush up on their moves ahead of the event. "The hockey pavilion is available for anyone who wants to practise there," said Mr Skuse. "Sina Brown from the Authentic Pilates Studio has also kindly offered her building to practise in." With a diverse line-up on offer, judges will have their work cut out, says Mr Skuse. "I would expect they will be looking for skill and timing, but also the whole performance. "The wow factor and how the story is told in your routine should be enough to grab some important points. "If you can manage some humour or a bit of sauciness, that will go a long way as well. Not much to ask. "This event is all about fun and raising money for hockey.
