It is made as a bilingual, being simultaneously shot in Tamil as Vana Yuddham. After much delay in the theatrical release, the film was opened to screens on 14 February 2013 all across Southern states of India. After Cyanide, which was Rajiv Gandhi killer Sivarasan's story, director AMR Ramesh captures the life of forest brigand Veerappan, his penchant for killing elephants, his many abductions, lifestyle and the drama surrounding his death. Worth a watch once. director AMR Ramesh has excellently brought onto the big screen what we have heard and read about the forest brigand. With an excellent script, the director has narrated the story in such a way that it keeps you on the edge of your seat. There is drama, action, sentiments and violence which formed part of the brigand's life. Though very few knew Veerappan from close quarters, incidents in the movie appear close to reality. One wonders why the director has failed to highlight the efforts and contributions of Karnataka police in tackling Veerappan. The second half totally focuses on Tamil Nadu police. It gives an impression that Karnataka cops haven't done much to help nab the brigand.
