- description: QUICK thinking rally fans jumped to the rescue to save a driver and his navigator from drowning in Poland. During the third round of the Polish Cup rally, the Renault Clio of driver Patrick Osowiecki and his navigator Maciej Wrona careered off the road and flipped into an adjoining lake. The Clio settled upside down in about 3ft of water with the pair trapped inside. Within seconds, several spectators had jumped in after the car to mount an impromptu rescue mission. After yanking the doors open, the fans managed to rock the car onto its side to get better access to the stricken competitors. Eventually both Osowiecki and Wrona were pulled free and an accident with far more serious consequences was successfully avoided.
