With Australia needing over 500 runs to turn this test around, it was never likely to be the fairytale ending for Ricky Ponting's illustrious career. But after South Africa claimed two early wickets -- those of David Warner and Shane Watson -- the former captain strode up to join Ed Cowan at the crease at 11:37am local time. Clearly in control on day four of the Test match, the South African side formed a sporting guard of honour for Ponting, who duly acknowledged the opposition and shook captain Graeme Smith by the hand.
