His teammates didn't help much either. The play happened in the second half of Saturday's contest between the Red Wolves and the Miami Hurricanes. ASU snapped the ball for what looked like a punt from their opponent's 40-yard line, and receiver Booker Mays clutched his hands to his chest and toppled backward to the turf. Maybe the guy running behind him was supposed to catch him for a "trust fall." Maybe the South Beach heat gave him the vapors. No one may ever know for sure. The play turned out to be a fake, and the punter completed a pass beyond the first-down marker. One problem: It was a Miami defender who caught the ball for an interception. The Hurricanes won 41-20. Miami improved to 2-1, while ASU dropped … umm, fell … their record is now 1-2.
