JOHN'S, NL), July 26, 2013 -- The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) General Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate a suspicious fire on Topsail Road in St. John's, NL. On Saturday, July 6, 2013, at approximately 5:30 am, RNC officers from Patrol Services, Forensic Identification Services and Criminal Investigation Division along with firefighters from St. John's Regional Fire Department responded to a fire at Hazelwood Elementary Store located at 391 Topsail Road. The building sustained moderate damage as a result of the fire. The RNC believes the fire is suspicious in nature and is seeking the assistance of the general public. There were no injuries reported at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The RNC General Investigation Unit is asking anyone that may have seen any suspicious persons or vehicles in the immediate area prior to the fire or have any information in relation to the fire to please contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
