- description: What would happen if a sun-massed object passed through the asteroid belt? The simulation starts on January 1, 2013. Each second is about 30 days (29.97 to be exact). Unlike my last simulation, this one uses Newtonian physics instead of Kepler's Laws. With Kepler's Laws, we can approximate the orbits of the planets around only one body (the Sun), but there was no way we'd be able to see the effects of moving the sun or having more than one body. Here, the force of gravity is solved for and Runge-Kutta is used to integrate position. The music is Sergey Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2 - Montagues and Capulets. It's also commonly known as "Dance of the Knights."
