  • description: The Quatari athlete had no rival out of himself at these 2012 World junior champs in Barcelona . After the 1st attempt 77,23m , he was already in the lead for good and improved progressively with 78,61m , 81,84m , 81,60 , so that everybody interested in the hammer throw in the stadium was watching in the hope of a world record . And then it came in the 5th round with a huge throw landing well further the precedent holes ....and the electric panel turned on with 85,57m . World record !!! Superb thrower , superb technique , super throw ! and he is only 17 !!! So he has 2 more years to be a junior and produce maybe the 1st throws in the history to fly toward the 90m mythic line . A bad point for IAAF , it should have been a line at 80m and a marker at the world record , the spectators would certainly have appreciated it . But one knows how little the IAAF cares for the throwers ... Some good examples of this is that there was no official presentation for the field events FINALISTS (there were individual presentations for ALL the races including the heats !) , also the throws had to stop at the start of the races (even when given at the other side of the stadium !) and even sometimes stop during ALL the race and even wait for the replay on the stadium screen . Of course nobody did care if these stops would disturb the throwers at a crucial moment of their own competition ! This sort of behavior tends to generalize in major competitions. Not even mentioning the poor and restricted warm up conditions (sometimes only ONE throw !) .Are there 2 sorts of athletes for the IAAF ? DP
