  • description: PALM SPRINGS CA -- April 26, 2014 - COLLIDING WORLDS, an ART DOCUMENTARY in a 30-minute format, brings its latest episodes to broadcast and YouTube, The Yin and The Yang with Woodman Shimko and Sabo. Woodman Shimko (http://www.woodmanshimkogallery.com) opened the Woodman/Shimko Gallery in January of 2013. The gallery, like its curator, is bold, unafraid and true to its motto, "Palm Springs Just Got Cooler." The Woodman/Shimko Gallery located at 1105 N. Palm Canyon Drive features work by local artists and a selection of artists from Provincetown, Massachusetts where Woody Shimko had a gallery for many years. The work is a mix of contemporary, modern and realistic paintings and photographs. Shimko's design work began in New York City where he was the design and visual director at Alfred Dunhill, Bergdorf Goodman and later for Tiffany. Shimko was worked for a design company in Tokyo where he was a director for 15 years. While his time in Japan, he also had stores and a gallery in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Worldly, intelligent and articulate Woodman Shimko, in this Colliding Worlds episode, converses with his political opposites, Sabo. Sabo (www.unsavoryagents.com) is former Marine, Latin American street artist who happens to be a Republican--Libertarian. His controversial work inflames some and inspires others. An outcast in the traditionally liberal street art community, Sabo, has an opinion and a right to express it. Sabo grew up in Louisiana and Texas. His current locale is West Hollywood. Elusive yet colorful, Sabo believes the Right has a great message, but he is frustrated that the Republicans refuse to counter attacks from the Left. Sabo thinks those on the Right are not very well educated or equipped in fighting back. "A lot of times we simply can't because they own so many platforms. I find that frustrating," said Sabo. Sabo is on a one-person mission to change that view, poster by poster. That two diverse men could sit in one room and engage in an intelligent conversation proves that one can talk politics, money and religion.
