Should burn for a couple of hours and looks great! Tipping a bucket of water quickly into the top of the pumpkin put it out a treat for me, but the correct way to extinguish it would be to use either a foam, powder or a CO2 fire extinguisher, or throw a fire blanket over it. If you're not confident about extinguishing a fire, maybe this experiment isn't for you, but if you are going to try it make sure you do it in a safe and sensible place outside where nothing will catch fire.
