- description: Bankrupt businessman Sean Quinn, his son Sean and nephew Peter Darragh Quinn could face jail after being found guilty of contempt of court orders restraining them putting assets in their international property group beyond the reach of the former Anglo Irish Bank. All three had acted in a "blatantly dishonest and deceitful" manner and were evasive and unco-operative in their evidence to the court, Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne said today. While Seán Quinn had told the court his business employing 7,000 people was built up in an honourable and respectable manner, she wished she could say the same about the manner in which the three had dealt with the adverse circumstances in which they found themselves following the collapse of the Quinn empire, she said. The behaviour of the three outlined in the evidence put before her by the bank was "as far removed form the concept of honour and respectability as it is possible to be", she said. The punitive element, she said, would depend upon the extent of co-operation from the three men in relation to the coercive element. However, the judge said, given all the circumstances, it would be difficult to persuade her that there were not be a punitive element.
