- description: The French girls Alexandra TAVERNIER (world leader) and Alexia SEDYKH , (World youth champion) , were expected to win medals and they did a 1-2 double . Alexia was the 1st leader with 67,34m but Alexandra, only 4th after 3 rounds ,did not panic and had a huge PB throw and new national record with 70,62m at her 4th attempt . One of the best ever junior performances in the world ! The Bielorussian Alana NAVAHRODSKAYA also got a PB and a medal with a 67,13m in the 2nd round. The New Zealander Julia RATCLIFFE came only 13cm short of the medals when she threw a new NZL junior and senior record at 67,00m and she was unlucky to foul a better throw. The American Shelby ASHE (2nd ranked in the world) was inexistant , not even getting a throw over 60m and showing a poor technique to finish 10th. All together an interesting event with some girls that we shall hopefully see coming at the senior elite level in a short future. DP
