Plock is the historical capital of Mazovia region and the capital of Poland in 1080 - 1138 A.D. during the reign of Boleslaw III Krzywousty, Prince of Poland. In 1180 one of the oldest schools in Europe was established in Plock - Malachowianka by the name – and is constantly open until this day. During the Soviet invasion in 1920, Plock was the place of one of the most important battles of that time which eventually deprived the Soviet sedge of Warsaw and in final allowed to defeat the invasion of Red Army on Poland.
