- description: Jay-Z has been hailed as humble and sweet after striking up a conversation with an elderly subway passenger who had no idea who he was. The rapper was riding the New York train accompanied by a documentary crew on the way to a gig he was due to perform in Brooklyn. The woman sitting beside him noticed his entourage and asked him if he was famous. "Not very famous, you don't know me — but I'll get there some day," he replied. "My name is Jay, what's your name?" The woman tells Jay-Z that she is proud of him for taking the subway to his concert, before he reveals his full identity. "Oh you're Jay-Z! I know about Jay-Z," the woman said. She was later identified as New York sculptor and drawer Ellen Grossman. Filmed in September but only released today, the clip is part of a 24-minute documentary on Jay-Z's eight-show series at the Barclays Centre. In April Jay-Z was named by Forbes magazine as the second highest paid hip-hop star in the world.
