When pressed by Oprah about others thinking of her as a gay person first and foremost, Symone turned the focus to race as well. “I want to be labeled a human who loves humans,” she said. “I’m tired of being labeled. I’m an American, I’m not an African-American. I’m an American.” You can tell from Oprah’s reaction that she knows how people are going to react to that one, and if this small sampling from Twitter this morning is any indication, people are not happy with Symone: It will be interesting to see if/how Symone chooses to follow up on her comments later today.
