- description: Hi Loves!!! Here's a Easy & fun DIY to help you stay fresh and moisturized by the pool this summer time! Happy DIY-ing!!! Lemon juice and citric acid can discolor the skin if applied in direct sun light and in concentrated amounts. Because we are using a fine mist and it is heavily diluted with water and essential oils, most will not experience and type of skin discoloration. However, if you have phytodermatitis(sensitivity to the sun), I reccomend trying a little bit as you may experience extra sensitivity from application of the spray. The active ingredient that causes citrus fruits to bleach is the citric acid. But by diluting and spraying over a wide area you should not experience any issues of discoloration. But results may vary and it is up to you to try what works best. If you are sensitive, I recommend muddling mint leaf in the distilled water and straining out the leaves and using the minty water as your base. Similar cooling effect as the lemon/lime, but without the citric acid.
