- description: A TROPICAL LOW IS LOCATED SOUTH OF DARWIN NT MOVING EAST, A CYCLONE COULD DEVELOP IN THE GULF LATE SUNDAY INTO MONDAY, HEAVY RAINFALL IS FORECAST FOR ALL NORTHERN HALF OF QLD AND NT! • A Tropical Low 999hpa is located over land south of Darwin NT which is expected to slowly intensify and move East over the next 2 days. If and Once over Gulf waters, this low has a moderate to high chance to develop into a Tropical Cyclone. Exact formation and coastal crossing times vary between 27th and the 28th for the cyclone or tropical low to cross the South East Gulf coast region. It is then forecast to continue to track South as an Ex TC or Tropical Low through far Western QLD bringing heavy rain and possible flooding. • A monsoon trough extends across the North QLD which is expected to intensify and slowly shift south from Cairns down towards Townsville over the next 4 days. • Scattered showers, gusty storms and rain areas with moderate to locally heavy falls expected in Northern NT, the Gulf / Peninsula and adjacent inland areas, North West QLD, North Tropical Coast and adjacent inland areas over the next 4 days. Flash Flooding is likely, further river and creek flooding is likely and already occurring.
