- description: The Wexford Wheelers hosted the Stafford Wholesale Wexford 2 Day Cycle Race over last weekend, after an absence of 21 years from the cycling calendar. Come rain or shine, it was not an event anyone wanted to miss -- it could've been anyone's race with it's rolling roads of steady terrain....leaving many to wonder who would claim victory over the event's three stages and with open categories - all A1, A2, A3s & A4s and women were welcomeThe first stage of Saturday's events, a 3 lapped course totalling 80km, tested the determination and will of many with the rain-soaked route. Later on in the day, the 4km time trial gave the riders of each category another chance at victory but it was Sunday's race that really put the pedal to the metal. The overall winners of the event: Sean McKenna (A1), John McCarthy (A2/A3), and A4 winner was Stephen Redmond. The women's race on Saturday was won by Roisin Kennedy in a spectacular solo win with Ciaran Mangan at 2nd, and Teresa O' Sullivan claimed third. Video Production By Black Umbrella Productions.
