You were all telling me like "You know, we hang outside the hotel and we know you're not really gonna come down 'cause you're sleeping, resting and things.. But we just like to hang out together and talk about what Born This Way means to us." I'm like, that's just like the f*cking coolest thing ever! And that's what I used to do with all the bands and the music that I love. I remember waiting on line for ages to meet Radiohead. I never got to 'cause I was like #4000 on the line in the street. But I remember how much it meant to me and knowing that I could mean that for you, it just makes me wanna be a better artist and a better songwriter and a better performer. So I wrote this song about all of you, about all the letters that you sent me. All the prayers, all the poetry. You write me the most beautiful messages. You always talk about how much you care for one another, and what I've noticed is things are very different now. We're socially in a completely different place than we were 20 years ago, 30 years ago and the gay community, especially.. Eventhough, we're still fighting for equality every single day, the truth is that we don't have to be bitter anymore about the past. We can smile and be hopeful for the future. We can be compassionate towards one another. We don't have to cut and slice each other and be hateful. We can proud and know that it's gonna come; that hope is the most beautiful thing that you can hold onto. IT ALWAYS GETS BETTER.. and that's what I've learned from all of you. You're like this new age of kids that don't wanna be angry anymore, eventhough you've had enough. So, this is for all of you. Let all your anger go and know that it's gonna be great.
