Four arrests were reported while over 1000 police officers were deployed for the event amid fears of violence in one of the largest police operations the West Midlands Police had to ever organise. After some far-right members succeeded in breaking through police lines, police kettled in around 200 people in Chamberlain Square for nearly two hours. Video footage shows police apprehending a young girl, carrying out a person on a gurney and arguing with the father of a young crying boy while attempting to keep EDL supporters and their oppositionists apart.
