In the meantime though, the first teardown video of the iPhone 7 Plus has surfaced online courtesy of a Vietnamese publication. The 17-minute long video — unfortunately in Vietnamese — shows the innards of the Jet Black Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Almost immediately it is clear that prying the new iPhone open is not at all an easy task. Once they do manage to open the iPhone, you get an idea on why Apple ditched the 3.5mm audio jack. It was just taking too much space. By removing the audio jack, Apple was able to free up space to fit a bigger Taptic Engine. This engine provides the haptic feedback for the display’s 3D Touch technology, as well as the new Touch ID button. The physical home button on the new iPhones is no longer clickable and instead you can just place your finger for it to work. When compared to a teardown photo of last year’s iPhone 6s, it is amply clear just how much space Apple has been able to save.
