- description: A man has been arrested after leading police on a pursuit through the north eastern suburbs overnight. Police patrols attempted to pull over a white Ford Falcon sedan displaying stolen registration plates just before 1.30am on Sunday 31 March 2013 at Burton, however the vehicle failed to stop. Patrols terminated the pursuit and lost sight of the vehicle. A short time later, a patrol spotted the car again around Edinburgh and by this time, the police helicopter was overhead and took over the pursuit. The helicopter crew directed police resources on the ground and road spikes were successfully deployed near Bridge Road and The Grove Way, slowing the vehicle. The driver, who was the only occupant, abandoned the spiked car in Bridge Road and took off on foot. Police patrols chased and caught him in Mostyn Crescent, Salisbury East. The 39-year-old Salisbury North man was arrested and charged with aggravated dangerous driving to escape police, engaging in a police pursuit, driving while unlicensed and unlawful possession of the stolen number plates. He has been refused police bail and is likely to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
