Biso the cat apparently crawled into a hole in a metro station in Cairo, Egypt, in 2010, when he was still a kitten, but grew too big to get out again. He is only said to have survived because an elderly man fed him and gave him water every day, as seen in the footage above. The man, known as Uncle Abdo, even visited the station during the 2011 revolution when large parts of the city were in chaos. A previous rescue attempt failed after the cat became scared and ran off further into the wall. The wall could not be broken as it would be considered damage to pubic property under Egyptian law. But the plight of Biso came to the attention of animal rights activists after a photo of cat's tail hanging from behind the wall was posted on Facebook. Workers were brought in to help - and the rescue mission took more than five hours. The terrified cat only emerged from the hole after one worker, named Amr, went inside to bring him out. Sadly Biso fled before anyone could catch him but Uncle Abdo is still looking for him.
