  • description: Follow my YouTube video updates on Twitter. http://twitter.com/HockeyWebCast On April 20, 1984, the rivalry between the Quebec Nordiques and the Montreal Canadiens reaches new heights during Game 6 of the Adams division finals. With the Nordiques leading 1-0 in a desperate attempt to stave off elimination, tempers start to flare. Emotions reach a boiling point at the end of the second period when the Nordiques' Dale Hunter appears to purposely run Habs goalie, Steve Penney. The benches clear, resulting in a full-out, on-ice brawl with 12 players expelled from the game. With so many misconducts, referee Bruce Hood is late announcing the penalties and all of the expelled players return to the ice to start the third period. Another mêlée erupts, resulting in 198 penalty minutes divided between the two teams and five players from each squad are subsequently sent to the showers. The game proves to be the turning point in the series, as the Canadiens manage to erase a 2-0 deficit, scoring five goals in eight minutes and winning the game 5-3 to eliminate the hated Nordiques and advance to the next round.
