It comes after an Old Bailey judge issued fines on Thursday totaling £300,000 in relation to the incident in 2010. London Underground, Tube Lines and Schweerbau GmbH were each fined £100,000 after pleading guilty to endangering passengers and staff. Judge Richard Hone said: "There was the potential of terrible tragedy." The 39-tonne maintenance train broke away from the vehicle towing it and began to roll downhill. London Underground staff tried unsuccessfully to slow the wagon by moving points on the line, but did manage to divert other trains out of its path. The Old Bailey heard that the train travelled four miles and reached speeds of up to 30mph in the 16 minutes it was out of control. The train eventually stopped when it reached a slight uphill slope at Warren Street station in central London.
