So let's see how this chemical spray protects these beetles. Whenever this Bombardier beetle feels any threat, it releases a very stinky, bad tasting chemical spray whose temperature may be even higher than 100 Celsius. A predator who gets a spray of this chemical, not only gets burnt badly but also never approaches a beetle again. The chemical spray released by a beetle is produced by it with the reaction of several chemicals. Hydroquinone and hydrogen peroxide is produced in the lobes of beetles, which then get stored in the tiny reservoirs traveling through tiny tubes. On sensing any threat, these beetles squeeze their reservoirs and release the chemicals present in them to the reaction chamber. Catalase and Peroxidase enzymes present in this reaction chamber, react with the chemical and produces Benzoquinone. Now the last action comes into play, now these beetle target their predator and spray this super hot and stinky benzoquinone on them to protect themselves.
