They don't have any impact on Colin or me but when you reply you only amplify their voice. I predict a lot of people are going to ask, "What's wrong with him?" Well, we've had just about every diagnoses that a developmentally delayed kid can have. Some say it's autism, some say it's not. Everybody agrees he has a form of speech dyspraxia, which basically means that he can't form words as easily as you or I. He's getting better all the time. Hopefully I do another dual commentary in six months and the progress is obvious. He is not retarded, which would mean he isn't able to learn new concepts. If he's taught the right way, which means we depend on visuals instead of purely language, he can learn just like you or I. Jackie and I have devoted lives to helping him get past this and live an awesome life. That's what parents do.
