  • description: It was announced Monday night by Raw interim general manager Vickie Guerrero on her Twitter account that CM Punk will defend his WWE Title against Daniel Bryan at Money in the Bank. As if we thought this would not happen. While this is the third time we have seen these two competitors challenge each other with the title at stake, it proves the WWE is trying to continue to cash in on the two best technical wrestlers in the business today and the rivalry they have continued to build over the past few months. Congrats to the hierarchy of the WWE for knowing a good thing when they see it. But the match, which, in my mind, is the best since the days of Flair/Steamboat and Jack Brisco and Harley Race, needs to be pumped up a bit with the announcement that four former champions will be competing in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Yes, this is the match that needs to close the show. Instead of seeing our wonder boy, John Cena, in the last match of the night, we need to see these two warriors end their feud. My prediction is a third time will be the charm for Bryan, and somehow A.J. Lee will have something to do with it. Call it karma in disguise. For everything the WWE has gotten wrong lately and the need for more excitement, there is nothing better than mat wrestling and two equals in the ring. And the fact that the WWE is taking the approach that these two are continuing a rivalry from their independent days is a great way to promote the third and possibly final match between the two. There will be other matches on the card: the Ladder Match, maybe Alberto Del Rio vs. Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler. Maybe Cody Rhodes and Christian. Maybe a Diva's Title Match. But this one is the one that people will come to see more than any of them. There is so much history and, for once, pure wrestling in a time where the WWE lags behind TNA that is producing matches that are entertaining. This is the one we will count on to produce, and it usually does. The fact Bryan beat Punk in an elimination match on Monday night has me thinking that he is due to finally get a win over his rival. Whether that is a clean win or not remains to be seen. But in a case like this, it has to be the biggest and best match of the night, and if the creative team and match makers for the company have any interest in ratings and success, then they will see to this and do the right thing.
