(taken from an Inkwell's Secret Diary entry on the KMS website) Maple's Story is soon coming to an end. The last hero, Luminous, was revealed! The M-A-P-L-E pattern is complete: Mercedes, Aran, Phantom, Luminous and Evan. Korean MapleStory unexpectedly decided to make the last hero another MAGICIAN, rather than a Pirate. This means that there was no pirate hero in the ancient fight with the Black Mage. While many might think that it's because "Nexon hates pirates", my theory is quite different. I think that they didn't make a Pirate hero for the sole reason that it wouldn't have made sense to do so. Pirates have a different story and might have not existed back when the fight against Black Mage took place. So, this class uses new weapons, called Shining Rods, and it uses "Orbs" in conjunction with them. They are equips such as Mercedes' Arrows, and you can probably also use potential scrolls on them. They follow you everywhere and you need them for many skills. This new job is absolutely epic, to say the least. Not only does it make use of both white and dark magic, which you should balance to get the most damage by using the correct skills (goodbye boring skill spamming!), but using skills also.. plays really cool voice sounds! I find this amazing, and hopefully it will sound as good when Nexon America translates them. This hero's skills are various and very good-looking to say the least, so they did a very good job with it. For more information, visit the link at the bottom of the description. But that's not all. Another Inkwell's Secret Diary entry showed an image of the.... Black Mage's room!! You heard it right! It's the same room in which Demon Slayer, Mercedes and Freud fought against Black Mage hundreds of years ago. It appears to be in the past, and the epicness of the map design is incredible. I expected them to do a very good job with it, and they actually did. Now, what might it be used for? We still don't know. It might be for Luminous tutorial (which I think wasn't released YET) or for a series of epic quests which might ask us to go help our heroes in the past. The storyline behind this new class is still quite unknown. Some even supposed it could be the good part of Black Magician trying to fight against the part of him where darkness took over (since it also uses dark magic and all), but we don't yet know. I still wonder how does it fit in the storyline, though. We'll see. Another important change of this patch: 3rd job is now at level 60 and 4th job is at level 100, except for Cygnus Knights and Evan. This is a very unexpected change. Nexon Korea has never changed that side of the game before. Does this mean 5th job is coming soon? Seeing how they've recently also released an incredibly-difficult-to-defeat (speaking of around 60b of total HP) boss such as Chaos Pink Bean, and considering that Black Magician might reveal himself in the present soon.. yeah, this might be the case.
