In the clip posted by People's Daily Online, a carp, which appears to be dying, suddenly revives after a spoonful of white powder is poured into the water. The white substance is reported to be sodium peroxide, a chemical used to keep fish fresh. What the video shows is a trick employed by some Chinese fishmongers to make their merchandise look more appealing.
