Santos, with a group of friends that included his fiancée, was camped on the Llanos grasslands, when he waded into a nearby knee-deep marsh to wash and gather water. It was at this fateful moment that a truly massive green anaconda (eunectes murinus) -- estimated to exceed 40 feet in length -- struck.
