France opened the scoring after fifteen minutes; Martin Genestets' shot ricocheted off the post on the way in. The French doubled their advantage after Guillaume Deront stormed into the D and fired a reverse stick rocket past David Harte. Lucas Sevestre made it 3-0 with a successfully converted penalty corner. Simon Martin Brisac extended the lead to four in the opening minute of play in the second half; a great run and tidy finish to lift to the ball over Harte. Conor Harte fired in a rebound from a short corner to put Ireland on the score board. Tim Cockram cut the deficit to with a well- placed drag flick from a penalty corner. Chris Cargo made it a one goal game with the final touch after Peter Caruths' ball across the D. Unbelievabley Ireland got back on level terms, four goals in fifteen minutes. Shane O'Donoghue with a perfect drag flick that flew into the roof of the net with fourteen minutes left to play. What a turnaround. Ireland took the lead through another Conor Harte penalty goal. 5-4 with seven minutes left to play. Ireland stretched their lead to 6-4 after Peter Caruth reacted first to a drop ball and smashed it into the net. Teams: Ireland: D.
