- description: Marthoma Metropolitan's unacceptable and arrogant behavior at Late Rev. Mathew Thomas's Funeral Service. ---------------------------------------------- This is in response to some messages I received through facebook and youtube. I am not related to Vinu Achen or his family, neither do I know them. I and many others had posted this video on the Marthoma Church Member Facebook page, but all of our postings were removed; now it my goal to have more people to know about this. Yes, I am a Marthomite --it's not only shame to Marthomites, but to all malayalee christians everywhere!! There is no justification for this kind of behavior. Pathetic is not the correct word!! This was not the right occasion to show his authority and power. The grieving father was invited by the Achen to give the vote of thanks. If you noticed, Irenaeus came in just after the Achen announced that Achen's father will be givng the vote of thanks. Couldn't Irenaeus have asked one of the Achens at that time to have him wait till the end of the service rather than disrespecting him publicly? Was it appropriate for him to answer his cell phone at that time? "...Nerathe saandeshangal ellam kodathett onde, orru therr anneram, anneram all akan..."- ivide aara all ayathe ippum? Really, who does he think he is? Have you guys not watched the part where the uncle turned his face towards his "highness", when he asked "Arra?" on the phone? He probably got scared thinking that he was talking to him. So, then when Irenaeus said the other things, you can just imagine how the uncle felt. Stand up for what is right, he may be the leader of the church, thett kandal, thett ann enn parayanam!! Not one person had the courage to say something back to him publicly just the way he did. Who cares if his highness didn't do the service? It doesn't matter where or who buries Achen. Either way as the Bible says in Thessalonians, "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first". Many have written to me that this was not the first time he has done something like this. If someone had corrected him the first time he did this, he may have not done this again. Yes, it's about time he steps down or retires. He will lead the other Thirumenis in the wrong direction too!! If you need respect, you need to learn to give it back also!
