15-Year-Old Charged CAPA Teacher Attacked in Alley

The boy, who is not being identified because he's a juvenile, has been charged with simple assault and taken to Shuman Juvenile Detention Center. He also faces a probation violation. Police said the boy's parents brought him to the Zone 2 police station to be interviewed on Tuesday. City police said the attack on teacher James Addlespurger, 50, in an alley off Liberty Avenue on Thursday afternoon was captured by surveillance cameras. The video shows Addlespurger walking by a group of teenagers when one of the teens abruptly hits him. Addlespurger falls and hits his head on the curb as the teens walk away. Police said the other teens in the video will not be charged. Addlespurger teaches 10th and 12th grade English at CAPA, police said. He was recovering from the attack at home.
