"Relationship status is... none of your business, young man. But I can say that in the last two years, I've been in a very committed relationship with our sport," Moir said at a news conference at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Moir, 30, said, adding: "I just honestly don't know where you would find time for that, part of the reason why we wouldn't continue was to open up that side of our life and maybe see where that goes." Skating last to "Moulin Rouge", the pair embraced and grinned on the ice after their dynamic performance that had the audience roaring. Their performance edged them to the top of the podium by less than a point and broke the world record. They won with a total score of 206.07, eclipsing the world record that had been set just moments before by French pair Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, who finished on 205.28. However, their success was not without detractors. Didier Gailhaguet, president of the French Ice Sports Federation, reportedly said his compatriots were disadvantaged by the marks given by a Canadian judge on the panel. "A judge yesterday did not behave correctly by putting the French in eigth place," said Gailhaguet, speaking to French media on Tuesday, referring to the short ice dance programme, in which Moir and Virtue, Papadakis and Cizeron competed. The pair had previously said this would be their last Olympics and hinted that retirement from competition - this time for good - might be on the cards soon.
