They called Geller an anti-Muslim Islamophobe, while the event organizers and attendees maintained that Geller speaks about legitimate threats present today as a result of Islam. The Federation responded to the controversy by cancelling the event, only hours before it was scheduled to begin. The ZOA regarded the cancellation as a cowardly act and an infringement of their first amendment rights to freedom of speech.
