In a sad case of animal cruelty, Memphis police say that a man starved his dog and allowed her 11 puppies to perish in his driveway before burying them herself. Migel Martinez was arrested on Wednesday night at his home and charged with aggravated animal cruelty after authorities took his pit bull mix dog away into the custody of animal services. Officers said that the dog had no access to food or water and her bones were protruding when they responded to the call of a neighbor who phoned after they witnessed the dog burying her last puppy. The neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told WREG.Com that he tried for three days to get Martinez to help the puppies in the driveway and even offered to take the dogs off of his hands. He said that he attempted to give the dogs food and water and placed the puppies to drink her milk but that she was too emaciated to provide for them. The man showed police cellphone footage of the dog burying her puppies to back up his claims. 'It was just sad, though, because she had a dog in her mouth and was looking for somewhere to put the dog and she was just digging a hole,' the man said.
