It happened this afternoon during an extremely heated altercation in the House of Commons. Mister Speaker ordered the Conservative frontbencher to “resume your seat”. Mr Bercow snapped at the Leader of the House after Ms Leadsom claimed an interjection from the Speaker did “not raise the level” of debate in the Commons. The Speaker initially told an MP to “grow up” in the Commons as Ms Leadsom attempted to reply to question. As the Speaker allowed Ms Leadsom to speak, the Conservative Party frontbencher took a swipe a Mr Bercow. She said: “Your response does not raise the level, but I'll leave it there.” Mr Bercow snapped, saying: “Order, resume your seat Leader of the House. “My response sets out the constitutional position that is applied to members of the House of Commons over generations. “I cannot, for the life of me, see or believe, that there is anything remotely controversial about what I have said.” It is the second heated Commons spat between Mr Bercow and the Leader of the House this week. On Monday, Mr Bercow launched an attack on Ms Leadsom for “playing” on her phone while another colleague was speaking.
