- description: NOVEMBER 16, 2014 BY MIKE BALSAMO New York City police are on the hunt for an assailant who allegedly shoved a 61-year-old man in the path of an oncoming subway train, authorities said Sunday. The NYPD says Wai Kuen Kwok, 61, of the Bronx, was standing with his wife on a subway platform at 167th Street in the Bronx shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday when he pushed in front of a train and killed. Officials said the subway motorman at the helm of the train – along the D line – saw Kwowk fly out in front of the train as it was barreling into the station, but could not stop in time. Kwok died at the scene. Investigators said the alleged assailant – identified by police only as a black male – fled on foot to the street and then jumped on a BX-35 bus. Investigators learned he only went a few stops before hopping off and heading to a bodega. The suspect was last seen in a dark-colored jacket and remained at large Sunday night. Police released surveillance video from outside the bodega with images of a man they say is being sought for questioning. Kwok’s 59-year-old wife, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Bronx-Lebabon Hospital Center earlier Sunday and was treated for shock. She was later released and was being questioned Sunday night by police, the New York Post reported. The victim’s son told the newspaper his parents were on their way to Chinatown to buy groceries for the week. Police said Sunday night that no arrests have been made and the investigation remains active.
